Please, Email Me!!!

Hi Families,

Just a quick question: What is your child most interested in right now? I would like to tailor the curriculum for the rest of the year around what really makes our individual students excited. So, if you can, take a moment and email me a few words. Seriously, it can just be a few words! mhope@houstonisd.org

Thank you for all you do for our classroom!

Show and Tell on Friday!

Quite a few pumas missed show and tell last Friday, so we will have it again this Friday. Everyone may bring one item. Please remind your child that the show and tell item must remain in his/her backpack until show and tell commences. :)

Favorite Songs

Has your child been singing lyrics you can't place?

Maybe it's from one of our favorite songs!

Here are the most popular ones:

"Everybody" by Ingrid Michaelson.

"Brave" by Sarah Bareilles.

"All I Want is You" by Barry Louis Polisar.

We listen to these songs after naptime and while we clean up breakfast.

Helpful Donations

Dear Parents,

The following items could be used in our classroom:

• Empty Tissue Boxes

• Toilet Paper Rolls/Paper Towel Rolls

• Masking Tape

• Play Dough

• Markers

• Dress-Up Clothes

• Post-It Notes (especially the tiny ones, we are going to use them to mark letters on pages of books).

• Any office supplies you think we might be able to use that you already have lying around the house – we can probably use them!

• Also, I am trying to beef up the “dramatic play area,” so if there are any items you have that you think may be wonderful for the area, please contact me.

Stomach Bug

Hello Families! I have unfortunately caught the stomach bug that has been going around. Luckily, I was able to get immediate treatment. My doctor has said it's most likely a 24 hour bug, and after a full day of sleep, I can say with confidence, I plan on returning tomorrow! I can't wait to see the students. Please let them know I'll be there. :)

Valentine's Day Celebrations

The school is having a Valentine's Dance on February 13th from 6-8 pm. On the 14th, we will have a class party from 12:15-12:45. Please let me know if you really want to volunteer. Apparently, we only are allotted two volunteers per class. Additionally, please post any treats you would like to bring as a comment here. I will have a sign up sheet at the pick-up area, as well. If we could, let's just try to avoid any repeat items. Also, if possible, let's try to go with healthy treats! The kids were just as excited about mini sandwiches and fruit at the Christmas party. Oh, and one last thing - paper plates will be needed, and napkins. :)

Cold Weather

It's been cold, and it's going to be cold for the rest of the week. This cold and flu season has really taken it's toll on the "Pumas." Please make sure to bundle them up in thick coats and hats for recess!
